The Expansive Joy of Doing Something New

Life often settles into comfortable routines. We find our rhythms, our preferred paths, and the familiar becomes a soothing backdrop to our days. But what happens when we intentionally step off that well-trodden path and try something new?

The answer, more often than not, is fun, growth, and a renewed sense of aliveness. Breaking from routine, even in small ways, can inject a vibrant energy into our lives. Consider how any kind of change can be difficult, sometimes even positive changes, because things are different, there's a learning curve, unknown territory. Yet, this unknown territory is precisely where the magic lies. It's where we discover new aspects of ourselves, unexpected talents, and unforeseen joys.

Think about the feeling of alignment with your inner truth. In a previous article I noted, "the more aligned you become with your inner truth, the more out of sync you can feel with the world around you". This out of sync feeling, while potentially disorienting, can be a powerful catalyst for seeking out experiences that truly resonate with who you are becoming. Trying something different can be an act of authenticity, a way to shed conformity and embrace your true self.

Embracing new experiences also cultivates resilience and can boost your confidence. When we trust that everything is ultimately for the highest good, even challenges become blessings. This perspective of "affirmation and trust," allows us to be open to those unexpected blessings. Deviations from our plans can be divine redirections, clearing the way for something even better.

Small or grand, whether it's exploring a new hobby, taking a different route to work, engaging in a conversation with someone you wouldn't normally speak with, or taking on a big project that is new for you, the act of doing something different opens us up to a richer, more dynamic existence. It allows us to come to new realizations, and a new way of life albeit different.

I had this happen by when I agreed to create a Marketing Team and marketing plan for Unity Spiritual Center Albuquerque. I am learning a great deal, especially how to support the team in the best ways to reach our community goals. I discovered a new way of leadership that is fun and opens space for us to be inspired.

So, go ahead. Step outside your comfort zone. Embrace the learning curve. The fun of doing something different isn't just about the activity itself,  it's about the expansion of your world, the growth of your spirit, and the exciting discovery of what lies just beyond the familiar. Let your inspired deviation from a comfortable routine be an opening for Divine redirection.
